The Montreal Association of Law Libraries (MALL) is a non-profit corporation established pursuant to Part III of the Companies Act of Québec. Its members are professionals working in law libraries in Montreal and people interested in legal information. The main interest of the association concerns various aspects of legal information. Since its beginning, MALL has grown and strived to provide the opportunity for persons interested in legal information to :
History In 1979, there were informal gatherings of approximately 15 law librarians. The idea of MALL took shape during the fall of 1985 and the Association was officially launched on January 28th, 1987. It sported a grand membership of close to 25 librarians, mostly from law firms. Today the Association is about 60 members strong, ranging from librarians, technicians, lawyers, legal publishers and information service providers; all of whom share a common interest in the area of legal information. |
